  • Overview

    Project Engineer is responsible for quoting, assisting with design, build, and maintenance of test and assembly equipment.  Tracks projects from concept through implementation and handoff to customers (internal and external), and functions as the customer interface for these projects.  Also responsible for implementing Lean Manufacturing projects, VA/VE activities, and researching current and future technologies.

    Responsibilities

    Responsible for specifying all needed equipment to meet customer specifications or manufacturing requirements, quoting this equipment, and able to oversee the purchasing, build, and implementation of the equipment in a Laboratory or Manufacturing setting.

     

    Responsible on equipment build projects for tracking the build progress, meeting timing, managing and interfacing with the customer, and managing the project budget.

     

    Responsible for reviewing all pertinent specifications, test plans, and other relevant documents for equipment build projects and quoting process.

     

    Responsible for assisting the Laboratory in day to day operations, providing maintenance, troubleshooting, problem solving, and evaluating current and future needs.

               

    Responsible for assisting Methode’s Global Manufacturing facilities in day to day operations, providing maintenance, troubleshooting, problem solving, and evaluating current and future equipment needs.

               

    Assists with designing and performing design reviews of equipment.

               

    Functions as a liaison to customers on technical issues.

               

    Assists the Laboratory in compliance to ISO 17025 standards.

     

    Assists manufacturing in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices and equipment

    Qualifications

    • BA in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (other degrees may be evaluated by the manager)
    • Strong Computer Skills – very strong focus on Excel and Word with other MS Office programs as a plus (required)
    • Project Management Experience (required)
    • 5 years’ experience with equipment quoting, building, and maintenance (5 years preferred, less may be acceptable based on other factors)
    • Testing and/or Test Equipment experience (preferred)
    • Experience with National Instruments hardware (preferred)
    • Experience with LabView software and programming (preferred)
    • Lean Manufacturing training, or equivalent experience (preferred)
