    Methode Electronics Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual for a position as a Network Engineer.  In this role, you will have overall responsibility for supporting our Global Network Infrastructure assuring compliance while optimizing protections for confidentiality, integrity, and the availability of Methode’s information system. This includes designing and planning, installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all hardware and software while ensuring optimal network performance is maintained.  You will interface with Methode partners (business partners, carriers, MDM services, SaaS services) by supporting and maintaining communication services with the likes of Ford, GM, Chrysler and others.

    • Act as Systems Engineer for Methode’s Global Network Systems
    • Deploy and maintain Talari SDWAN Technology
    • Keep current on ever-changing security world to ensure protection from internal/external threats
    • Deploy and maintain the Network Access Control initiative
    • Log monitoring of public facing systems to detect abnormalities and intrusions
    • Help with vulnerability scans across internal and external hosts
    • Coordinate penetration testing and application code reviews
    • Ensure day-to-day management of all network systems and processes
    • Build, maintain and support new/existing wide area network (WAN) communication with redundancy, keep the operating systems, hardware, and firmware current
    • Build, maintain and support new/existing local area network (LAN) communication with redundancy, keep the operating systems, hardware, and firmware current
    • Provide direct support for local Firewall, WAN and LAN network connectivity (includes Cisco routers/switches and NGFW) and other network devices
    • Provide Level-2/Level-3 support to Methode Help Desk Group on network related issues
    • Assure network related issues, including offsite and remote users, are addressed in a timely manner and closed problems contain appropriate information
    • Provide inside/outside connectivity client support to systems using direct LAN, Internet and SSL/VPN client connectivity
    • Provide accurate project plans, status and time keeping
    • Maintain network configuration system backups in accordance with company backup policy
    • Provide remote WAN and LAN support for routers, switches, network design and installation
    • Maintain existing VOIP hosted solutions while expanding service to remaining non-VOIP sites
    • Develop and maintain an inventory of all IT assets: (i.e. routers, switches, NGFW, NAC devices, Access Points, Web Gateways, Security Appliances, etc.)
    • Prepare and maintain network performance across all network WAN and LAN systems providing monthly reporting for management
    • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future network needs
    • Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations
    • Maintain current hardware equipment and software renewal contracts and supervise contract-based installations; where necessary liaise with third-party support and carrier/vendors
    • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plans and respond to crises in accordance with the plans
    • Collaborate with IT counterparts across divisions in providing support, planning and exchange of ideas/improvements
    • Other duties as assigned


    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or applicable discipline
    • At least five (5) years of applicable experience 
    • CCNP or higher certification required
    • Cisco WAN/LAN Administration work experience
    • Extensive WAN (MPLS and IPSec) support experience in implementing automated failover network failover
    • Talari SDWAN technologies highly desired
    • Experience with Silver Peak WAN Optimizers and UBNT WIFI preferred
    • Extensive LAN experience in designing solutions and troubleshooting application performance systems
    • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, firewall management, and NAC administration
    • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience with Cisco Systems, servers, and operating systems
    • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, including TCP/IP and Windows
    • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories
    • Able to read/understand technical manuals, procedural documentation and OEM guides
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
    • Self-motivated and directed
