  • Overview

    The Global EDI Developer/Analyst is a member of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) team within the Global Information Technology department. In this role, you will develop the overall strategy for Methode’s electronic data interchange (EDI) program.  Leveraging your strong EDI background, you will act as an IT Representative with various business clients, both internal and external to Methode Electronics.  You will facilitate and ensure that requirements/expectations are clearly understood and captured to produce effective, relevant and successful large-scale IT solutions.

     

    This position may be based in Greater Chicago or Greater Detroit.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as primary EDI expert, providing support for all manufacturing locations within Methode including Asia, Europe and North American locations
    • Primary responsibility for the creation and maintenance of all EDI mapping including understanding the tables that are used in ERP system to map to and from
    • Provide expertise to end-users, as the Methode EDI expert with knowledge of International as well as ANSI standards for EDI communications
    • Overall responsibility for the creation of EDI standards for Methode and communication to all vendors globally
    • Ensure EDI is communicated in a timely fashion to and from the ERP system
    • Overall responsibility for maintaining VAN mailboxes, ensuring all documents are delivered on time and processed successfully into ERP system
    • Test, implement, administer, maintain, and upgrade Trustedlink iSeries software as required to remain current and up to date on latest EDI Standards
    • Investigate least cost alternatives for communicating with trading partners
    • Understand and able to implement communication protocols including but not limited to FTP, SFTP, OFT, OFTP2, AS2, etc.
    • Work on special project for global business units such as changing OFTP trading partners over to OFTP2
    • Conduct all end-user training related to EDI, ensuring all business users understand their role with relation to EDI
    • Deploy web-based EDI portal for all vendors unable to use traditional EDI
    • Maintain up to date records of trading partners’ label and EDI specifications
    • Identify, recommend, develop and implement end-user training programs to increase EDI self-sufficiency throughout the organization
    • Document EDI processes, including inbound and outbound communication protocols, map management, trading partner correspondence
    • Travel to domestic and International locations for EDI related projects, such as onboarding large group of vendors or customers
    • Ability to manage and maintain working knowledge of 250+ trading partners
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/MIS or Finance
    • 5+years’ direct experience with TrustedLink iSeries EDI translation software
    • Ability to write SQL queries to understand underlying ERP table structure for EDI mapping
    • Ability to modify and customize Javascript application used for non-traditional EDI
    • Experience with Epicor’s CMS ERP software a plus
    • Experience supporting a global, multi-location business
    • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required
    • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
    • Ability to multi-task
    • 20% domestic and international travel
