Responsible for plating process involving duties such as developing plating methods and best practices, determining processing parameters, developing analytical procedures, recommending cost improvements, working with product design engineering to develop best designs for manufacturing. Supervise direct plating operators.
Responsible for manufacturing support and continuous improvement of the plating process in Methode Power Solutions Group.
Directs, coordinates and prioritizes production in the plating department which includes Electroplating Line (Tin, Nickel, and Silver) & Electroless Nickel plating process
Develop and document processes and tooling, maintain and improve processes capability though process optimization and control, problem solving, equipment upkeep and process engineering.
Interfaces with other manufacturing area supervisors such as fabrication, machining and powder coating and assembly to integrate plating processing with total product manufacturing.
Responsible for use of SPC and DOE as required to control processes and solve processing problems.
Interfaces with product design engineering to ensure designs are compatible with plating processes.
Responsible for chemical process debugging, and for process equipment operations.
Responsible for the upkeep and 5S of manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation.
Provides information to Quoting departments related to customer quotes.
Responsible for the daily activities to assure on time delivery of product to specifications.
Responsible for the generation and management of hazardous waste and/or the implementation of those portions of the Emergency Action Plan that are related to the notification and response to fires, explosions, or releases involving hazardous waste at the Rolling Meadow facility.
Manages and developes personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the department
Train and certify departmental employees to successfully perform all processes
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS in Chemical/electrochemical/material engineering or plating related field.
3+ yrs experience in automated Tin rack plating processing.
Strong problem solving skills. Six sigma background preferred but not required.
Strong hands on experience working with chemistry of Tin Plating processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
