  • Overview

    The Tool Room Intern will work in a precision tool room environment and be responsible for reading blueprints and/or sketches to produce finished articles using tool room equipment.  This position is ideal for students enrolled in technical programs seeking to work and learn from experienced tool makers.

    Responsibilities

    • Under close supervision, following specific, detailed instructions processes, and procedures
    • Reliable, detailed oriented individual with a desire for a career in machining
    • Work successfully in a fast-paced environment
    • Housekeeping and good safety practices

    Qualifications

    • Must be 18 years of age or older
    • Student enrolled in an industrial educational trades program
    • Successful completion of classes in tool manufacturing
    • Knowledge of the decimal/metric systems
    • Ability to read micrometer, venier caliper and ruler/scale
    • Ability to operate basic machine shop equipment such as mill, surface grinder, lathe, saw and drill
    • Ability to follow directions and, where possible, present creative solutions
    • Prior experience reading blueprints
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
    • Experience with CAD a plus
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
